Square: Accra
Info
In the heart of Harlem, Accra is more than just a restaurant—it’s a legacy. Founded in 1985 by Ghanaian immigrant Mohammed Abdullah, the beloved eatery has been a cornerstone of the community, serving up rich flavors and deep traditions. But behind the aromas of jollof rice and waakye, a quiet struggle simmers.
Now run by Mohammed’s adult children, each managing different aspects of the business, Accra is both their shared inheritance and their battleground. While they work together to keep their father’s dream alive, they are also locked in an unspoken competition for his love, approval, and the right to define the restaurant’s future.
Through intimate storytelling and rich visuals, Accra captures the beauty of Ghanaian cuisine, the weight of generational expectations, and the complex, often bittersweet nature of family. In the end, the Abdullah siblings must ask themselves: Is their father’s love something to be won, or has it been there all along?
